Abstract     Effect of a superimposed electrical stimulation on a muscle torque production was tested at different knee angles. Ten subjects performed the maximal isometric knee extensions at 45 degrees, 60 degrees, 70 degrees, and 90 degrees angle in the knee joint. After achieving a MCV torque level, an electrical stimulation of the quadriceps muscle was superimposed over voluntary contraction. Results showed a significant increase of a knee torque over MVC level during superimposed electrical stimulation at all knee angles. The greatest change was observed at 45 degrees and the smallest at 90 degrees. It was concluded that the knee angle significantly determined the effect of superimposed ES.
