Abstract     Macromolecular contrast agents for magnetic resonance imaging can be defined as paramagnetic or supermagnetic substances with a sufficiently high molecular weight, usually over 20,000 daltons. They are produced in such a way that they highlight perfusion and areas with changed endothelial permeability. In order to obtain an optimal macromolecular contrast agent, a systematic study of the biological distribution of the contrast agent, its release, toxicity and stability is required, and a kinetic model should be made for the calculation of capillary permeability.
