Abstract     Gastritis is relatively often finding during upper endoscopy, but frequently without causing subjective troubles to the patient. The diagnosis of gastritis should always be confirmed by histologyy and need medical treatment, especially when if caused by Helicobacter pylori. Unlike gastritis, polyps of the stomach are uncommon gastric lesions, generally found accidentallyi during upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. Histologic typing of polyps should be done, followed by transendoscopic removal or surgical excision when necessary. Therefore, a close cooperation between the clinican, endoscopist and pathologist is imperative. There is only a modest association between polyps and chronic gastritis, but hyperplastic regenerative polyps with a low potential for malignant transformation are quite frequently described in association with chronic gastritis. True adenomas show the highest potential for malignant alteration.
