Abstrakt		In the research we investigate the symbolism of main personality archetypes. We attempt to use a cognitive approach to understand collective unconsciousness. We pre-suppose that cognitive unconsciousness works in the same fashion as conscious knowledge, which must be organised in some way. These categories should influence cognitive processes; for example, the categorisation of symbols, even thoug individuals do not have conscious knowledge of the meaning of these symbols. Research shows that people have defined cognitive schemata or categories, which correspond in their contents to archetypes. The questions is, then, whether these categories are in fact part of the unconscious realm of our psyche and reachable only via the world of symbols.
