Abstrakt | Mutations in the gene encoding protein tyrosine phosphatase PTPlC are known to underlie the autoimmune and immunodeficient phenotype manifested by motheaten (me) and motheaten viable (mev) mice. PTPlC dysfunction is in motheaten mice associated with the T cell hyper-responsivness to in vitro antigen and mitogen stumulation and consequently with the increased production of interleukin-2. This defect, does however not affect T cell ontogeny. The results discussed herein, suggest that PTPl C may function as an inhibitor in signaling pathway coupling the T cell activation to proliferation, thus implying its physiological growth suppresor activity. | |
