Abstrakt		We report a 6-day-old, term male who presented on admission with pyridoxine-responsive neonatal convulsions. During the next few days relapses occurred on two occasions but were promptly controlled by higher doses of pyridoxine. Thereafter the seizures did not reappear however subsequently the baby became irritable, with periods of jitteriness and increased muscle tone. Hypomagnesemia due to maternal deficiency, was suspected as no other cause of the continously low serum magnesium levels was found. After 14 days of magnesium supplementation the baby's cpmdotopm gradually improved and at one year of age he is completely normal and seiyure-free on pyridoxine supplementation alone. Conclusion. We describe a term newborn with pyridoxine-responsive convulsions who gradually deteriorated, probably due to concomitant hypomagnesemia and completely recovered after a short course of magnesium supplementation. Whether this is a case wyo presented with two different deficiency states or just one interrelated entity is still a matter for debate.
