Abstrakt		The authors present the problems relating to the use of self-defence sprays with regard to valid legislation. The physical and chemical properties and the toxicology of these sprays undoubtedly show that these substances are dangerous to humans and that they can even prove fatal to the person against whom the spray was used. Cases of fatality have been occurred in foreign experience. It has been established that self-defence sprays have harmful effects on the eyes as well as the skin, respiratory system and even the cardiovascular system. Our own judicial practice also has some experience with substances which have been the subject of a number of crimes and trials.
