Abstrakt     Rheology is a science deals with deformation, remodelling and flow of fluids, semisolid and solid systems upon mechanical force and is very important in many fields like pharmacy, cosmetics, food industry etc. Pharmaceutical systems in everyday's praxis are very heterogenus and complex so it is necessary to understand basic rheological terms for investigation and explanation of their rheological behaviour. In the first part of this article theoretical background fundamental for the evaluation of rheological properties is given. Basic rheological parameters like shear stress, shear deformation and shear strain are explained. Further in the article basic classification considering their rheological properties and different ways of their representation (mathematical equation, flow and viscosity curves and mathematical models) are described.
