Abstract     An epidemiological study on respiratory diseases in Bavaria/Germany is presented which investigates the influence of weather and air quality on a group of test subjects. It is shown that the data available (meteorological data from the Deutscher Wetterdienst and air quality data from the Landesamt fuer Umweltschutz) are not suitable for these studies. Variations in the time scale can produce nearly any possible statistical result. The descriptive data are coupled, so they must be orthogonalized before being used in a multiple regression analysis.
