Abstrakt     The magnetoencephalographic technique and the functional magnetic resonance imaging technique were employed together in experiments investigating voluntary movement function. The MEG techniqe allows localisation of equivalent current dipoles in an event-related manner, referred to here as the 'neuronal signal' and has been employed by our group since 1982 (Deecke et al. 1982, 1983; Cheyne et al. 1991). The FMRI technique allows the measurement of activation-related cerebral blood flow changes occuring with specific tasks, referred to as the 'cerebrovascular signal.' The same Ss participated in experiments using similar experimental designs, and data from both the MEG and the FMRI have been recorded. Spatialcoincidence between methods was fair but not 100%. The disagrement is perhaps not only of a technicalnature (inaccuracy, etc.) but inherent to the physiological differences between the two signals: Maybe it is a priori not be expected that the neuronal signal and the cerebrovascular signal exactly match in localization.
