Abstrakt     Among the tests evaluating peripheral and vascular autonomic function are the thermoregulatory sweat test (TST), quantitatve sudomotor axon reflex test (QSART), sympathetic skin response (SSR), and skin laser Doppler flowmetry. TST assesses central and peripheral sympathetic sudomotor dysfunction. QSART tests postganglionic sympathetic sudomotor function by means of acetylcholineiontophoresis and axon relfex sweat gland activation and shows abnormal sweating in various neuropathies and reflex sympathetic dystrophy. The combination of TST and QSART differntiates between central and peripheral anhidrosis. Arousal induced SSR evaluates sympathetic sudomotor fibers and sweat glands in axonal and autonomic neuropathies, but has variable sensitivity. Laser Doppler flowmetry at the finger pads measures sympathetically mediated vasoconstriction and assesses sympathetic denervation in peripheral neuropathies.
