Abstrakt     The risk of surgically induced motor deficits in spinal surgery can be reduced using intraoperative monitoring techniques, which supply information about the physiological function of the motor pathway. For this purpose, repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTCMS) has several advantages over other stimulation techniques. We evaluated if rTCMS can be employed during general anaesthesia regimens for neurosurgical operations. Furthermore we determined the optimal stimulation parameters. It can be concluded that repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation with a train of 4 stimuli using propofol for anaesthesia is a reliable intraoperative monitoring tool and provides the possibility to compare intraoperative data with pre- and postoperative investigation results.
