Abstrakt     Event-Related Desynchronization (ERD) of the EEG during voluntary movement is a method allowing to study the activation of the cortical areas involved in movement preparation and execution. We compared ERD in patients affected by Parkinson's Disease (PD) before and after acute administration of L-dopa, in the same experimental session, to evaluate if the effect of L-dopa is related to a reduction of ERD abnormalities in PD. Ten patients affected by the akinetic form of PD, with bilateral expression, were compared to a control group of ten agematched healthy subjects. Statistical analysis showed that in PD patients the ERD onset become closer to normals after L-dopa administration. This finding suggests that ERD is a good indicator of motor function and it could become a useful tool for the selection of patients responding to L-dopa.
