Abstract     The methods for the determination of the body center of gravity (COG) based on the whole body kinematics usually model the trunk above the pelvis as a simple segment. Such approach gives adequate results when measuring the COG position during quiet stance or gait. However, when one tries to measure the motion of the COG during movements that include various bendings and twists of the trunk, the simple trunk modelling cannot determine COG position correctly. For this purpose, we partitioned the trunk into slices of the width of one vertebra. We used the results from anthropometric measurements on cadavers published by Liu and Wickstrom (7). For the determination of segment endopoints algorithm by D'Amico et al. (4) is used. The experiments outlining the performance of a model with a segmented trunk differences in determination of the COG are presented.
