Abstrakt     Management is a concept with which we are all familiar, but not one commonly associated with physiotherapy and the physiotherapy profession. Physiotherapists often see themseves more in the hospital ward and in the treatment room, in a "hands on" environment, and not in administration and management. Governement and health boards want more for less, patients want quicker and more convenient emphasis, technology is combined with the more treatment hands - on approach, greater emphasis is being put on patients "self-care" programs, and patient treatment is becoming more and more multidisciplinary. As a result the age of management has arrived in physiotherapy and practice and patient record-keeping plays a key role in that management process. Not only do patient records facilitate patient treatment through providing the right information in the right place at right time - but also protects the profesion at the time when lawsuits in America are making the medical profession aware of the need to keep good records of care provided and justifications for it.
