Abstract		The Author stresses the importance of "silent" epidemiology of injures in children, especially braintraumas as they are the cause of death of one to two school classes each year in Slovenia. Those children who survive may have severe handicapswhich influence their lifestyles and those of the families concerned. This article deals with patopysiology of brain injury, it's diagnostics and treatment.
Summary		V prispevku avtorica poudrja pomen "tihe" epidemije poškodb tudipri otrocih, saj poškodbe, zlasti glave, terjajo v Sloveniji smrt letno enega do dveh šolskih razredov otrok. Pri preživelih otrocih huda poškodba glave bistveno spremeni način življenja otroka in njegove družine, zlasti zaradi psihosocialnih posledic, še dolgo po končanem rehabilitacijskem postopku. V kratkem je razložena patofiologija poškodbe možganov,načini nejnega ugotavljanja ter zdravljenja.
