Abstrakt		Highly developed medicine is constantly decreasing the mortality of children with severe neurological risk or traumatic brain injuries. Different approaches of help are necessary to overcome persistent cognitive impairments such as memory, attention or language deficits. We shortly present the role of developmental neuropsychology, based on cognitive psychology /dealing with normal information processing) and experiences of clinical neuropsychology "concerning the relationship between the brain pathology and the behaviour". The main goal of the neuropsychological assessment is the contribution of better understanding of patients problems, and planning the rehabilitation programme.
Izvleček		Z zmanjševanjem umrljivosti otrok z mož- ganskimi okvarami ali poškodbami potrebuje dobro razvita medicina tudi različne oblike pomoči pri trajnih posledicah, kot so težave s spominom, govorom, pozornostjo itd. Z metodami kognitivne psihologije, ki raziskuje normalne poti procesiranja informacij, ter izkušnjami razvojne nevropsihologije, katera proučuje kognitivna odstopanja v povezavi z obolenji, okvarami ali poškodbami možganov, lahko bistveno prispevamo k boljšemu diagnosticiranju in razumevanju holnikovih težav in načrtovanju individualnega programa rehabilitacije. Prispevek vsebuje osnovne informacije o vplivih na razvoj otroške nevropsihologije in o področjih in indikacijah za nevropsihološko diagnostiko.
