Abstract		In Slovenia, the use of alcohol and other psycho-active substance is widespread among adults and, unfortunately, even more among the young. With regard to harmful effects of the use of alcohol Slovenia is on top of European countries. This is mostly due to scarse information on harmful effects of alcohol and other psychoactive substances and to poor knowledge of risk factors and consequences of the abuse of alcohol among young people. The authors in this article give advice how to recognize an alcohol addict, hov to take prompt action and preventive measures, how to help. They also suggest what the role take prompt action and preventive measures, how to help. They also suggest wht the role of sports pedagogues in the decrease of alcohol consumation could/should be.
