Abstrakt		The article describes the significance of the pathomorphological investigation in the diagnostic procedure of some neurologjc diseases in children. In focal diseases of the central nervous system, especially tumors, histologic examination of the biopsy sample is essential in establishing the diagnosis and choosing the best treatment. In other neurologic diseases, biopsy is an important tool in the diagnostic procedure only in those diseases with pathognomonic histologic changes in which biopsy can contribute significantly to the exact diagnosis (e. g. ceroid lipofuscinosis, some hereditary peripheral neuropathies). In some incurable fatal neurologic diseases, biopsy of the central nervous system could contribute to the exact diagnosis but is too aggrressive. In these cases, pathomorphological investigation of the nervous system is used postmortem to confirm or reject the clinical diagnosis.
Izvleček		V prispevku je opisan pomen patomorfoloških preiskav v diagnostiki nekaterih nevroloških bolezni pri otrocih. Pri žarišćnih boleznih osrednjega živčevja, zlasti tumorjih, je histološki pregled biopsijskega vzorca nujen za postavitev natančne diagnoze in izbiro zdravljenja. Pri ostalih nevroloških boleznih je biopsija pomembna predvsem v diagnostiki tistih bolezni, pri katerih so histološke spremembe patognomonićne in zato biopsija pripomore k natančni diagnozi (npr. ceroidna lipofuscinoza, nekatere dedne periferne nevropatije). Pri nekaterih neozdravljivih nevroloških boleznih pa bi. prispevala k diagnozi le biopsija osrednjega živčevja, ki je preveč agresivna metoda in ne odtehta namena. Patomorfološke preiskave uporabimo v takih primerih šele po smrti bolnika, ko z natanćnim pregledom živčevja potrdimo ali ovržemo klinično diagnozo.
