Abstrakt     The rehabilitation of children with congenital or acquired ailments is a process requiring the earliest possible complex approach and continuous treatment throughout the period of the child's growth and development. A disorder of the nervous system, either central or peripheral, directly or indirectly leads to a changed development of locomotor, sensory, cognitive, emotional and social patterns. Early identification of disorders is crucial to the determination of the therapeutic program which not only must be introduced as soon as possible but must also support proper development in all of the afore-mentioned domains. Changed paterns in any of the said domains will exert a long-term effect upon the formation of the child and of the adult person he is to become. In consequence, early complex team treatment, also including the child's family, is an indispendable form of scanning the child irrespective of whether his disorder is congenital or resulting from a disease or an injury the consequences of which affected the formerly normal development of the child. Deferring the program and letting the organism develop its own abilities leads to incorrect interacting patterns which becom fixed and are very hard to change. A correct thera- peutic program based on the laws of normal deveopment can be supplemented with various individually adapted aids. They can serve to support or replace the child's functional deficit and to prevent anomalies in his development. Continuous assessinent of functional capacities allows timely adaptation of the programs and proper direction of the development from the more correct initial locomotion patterns to the choice of suitable education and vocational training.
Izvleček     Rehabilitacija otroka s prirojenim ali pridobljenim nevrološkim obolenjem je proces, ki zahteva čimbolj zgoden celovit pristop in zagotovIjeno kontinuiteto obravnave skozi celo obdobje rasti in razvoja otroka. Okvara živčevja, osrednjega ali perifernega, posredno ali neposredno vodi v spremenjen razvoj gibalnih, čutnih, kognitivnih, čustvenih in socialnih vzorcev. Pravočasno prepoznavanje motenj je ključno za opredelitev terapevtskega pro- grama, ki se mora začeti čimprej in mora podpirati čimbolj pravilen razvoj na vseh omenjenih področjih. Spremenjeni vzorci na katerem koli od omenjenih področij dolgoročno vplivajo na oblikovanje otroka in odrasle osebe, v katero se bo razvil. Zato je zgodnja celovita timska obravnava, ki vključuje tudi otrokovo družino, nujna oblika vodenja otroka, pa naj gre za prirojeno motnjo ali stanje po obolenju ali poškodbi, ki je s svojimi posledicami spremenila sicer normalen razvoj otroka. Odlaganje programa in prepuščanje organizmu, da sam razvije svoje sposobnosti, vodi v nepravilne vzorce, ki se v medsebojnem vplivu fiksirajo in jih je kasneje težko spreminjati. Pravilni terapevtski program, ki temelji na zakonitostih normalnega razvoja, lahko dopolnimo z različnimi individualno prilagojenimi pripomočki. Z njimi lahko podpremo ali nadomestimo otrokov funkcionalni primanjkljaj in dodatno preprečimo nastajanje nepravilnosti v razvoju. Sprotno ocenjevanje funkcionalne zmogljivosti omogoča pravočasno prilagajanje programov in pravilno usmerjanje razvoja od prvih pravilnejših gibalnih vzorcev do izbire primernega izobraževanja in poklicnega usmerjanja.
