Abstrakt | Myelomeningocoele, the most common congenital malformation of the central nervuos system, is a serious disorder with significant long-term morbidity and a reduced quality of life due to multisystem sequelae of the myelodysplasia. This paper focuses on the treatment of these neurological, urological, orthopaedic and psychosocial sequelae . Due to the complexity of the disability, there is an urgent need for an aggressive, wellcoordinated and multidisciplinary management approach. The goal of treatment is to enable the child to reach his/her maximal functional and physical potential within the scope of his/her disability.
Izvleček | Mielomeningokela je najpogostejša malformacija osrednjega živčevja. Bolezen je resna zaradi kronićne morbidnosti in zmanjšanja kakovosti življenja, ki sta multisistemski posledici mielodisplazije. V prispevku poudarjam zdravljenje nevroških, uroloških, ortopedskih in psihosocialnih komplikacij. Zapletenost prizadetosti zahteva agresiven, dobro usklajen in multidisciplinaren pristop. Cilj obravnav je usposabljati otroke za čimboljšo telesno, duševno in socialno samostojnost v mejah svojih sposobnosti.
