Abstrakt		The paper reviews facts about inguinal hernia in children. It describes the diagnoses of a hernia and the differential diagnostic possiblities, as well as the method of operating in our department. Of the 1495 children operated during the time between 1.1.1993 and 31.12.1997, most were in the preschool age group. More right than left-sided herniaS were operated. 65 children with incarcerated hernia and 30 with a recurrence were operated. Our results are similar to those in other centers.
