Abstract		Cochlear implant system is a device that imitates the function of the inner ear and transmits sound infor- mation by electric current directly to the acoustic nerve. This prosthesis can not help all deaf people as the function of the auditory nerve, central auditory path-ways and auditory center in temporal cortex should be preserved. It is difficult to foresee the f nal reha- bilitative result after the implantation, so preoperative assessment covers a number of examinations. The cooperation of several experts is necessary and beside the medical criterion the psychosocial state should be considered too. In that way the expectations and the actual attainment will not diverge much.
