Abstract		A brief review of the etiology, historical development of surgical treatment and current surgical tratment of arterial aneurisms is presented. Due to modern imaging technics mroe aneurisms are detected and treated. Thus, in the year 1998 seventyone patients with arterial aneurisms were operated at the Department for cardivoascular surgery in Ljubljana. Department for cardiovascular surgery in Ljubljana. This represents 11% of all patients treated forperipheral arterial disease. The characteristics of available arterial grafts are discused.
Summary		Prispevek na kratko pojasnjuje nastanek anevrizmatskih sprememb arterij, prinaša povzetek zgodovinskega razvoja kirurškega zdravljenja in prikazuje sodobno zdravljenje. Ob tem avtor ugotavlja, da je zaradi sodobnih diagnostičnih metod odkritih in zdravljenih vse več anevrizem. Tako se je njihovo število na kliničnem oddelku za kirurgijo njihovo število na kliničnem oddelku za kirurgijo srca in ožiblja v Ljubljani v preteklem letu 1998 povzpelo na 11% (71 bolnikov) vseh zdravljenih bolnikov s periferno žilno boleznijo. V prispevku so opisane lastnosti sodobnih umetnih žilnih protez.
