Abstract     The authors represent their experience in providing physical treatment to patients recovering from an injury, operation or disease involving the eyes and face. Assessment of the patient's condition with the use of suitable diagnostic methods before the start of treatment enables the therapist to select appropriate therapeutic measures. Monitoring and evaluation of the results of treatment, recording of the patient's status and preparation of progress reports are essential elements of a good physiotherapy programme. Accurate records allow the therapist to define specific goals for each patient, thereby speeding up the rehabilitation process and improving its outcome. Physical treatment of ophthalmic patients gives very good results. Patients who have sustained serious injuries to their eyes and face, associated with loss of function, altered appearance and sever psychic stress, return well-rehabilitated to their home and work.
