Abstrakt     For the most part, cardiac rhythm disturbaces are diagnostically and therapeutically simple and can be treated at the outpatient clinic. In our paper, systematic treatment of the patient with arrhythmia is advised according to the following stages: evaluation of hemodynamic significance of arrhythmia, diagnosis of arrhythmia type, evaluation of associated cardiac and other diseases, determination of the cause, evaluation of prognosis and, on the basis of the above, decision regarding therapy. A part of rhythm disturbances is represented by physiologic variants. These latter as well as hemodynamically and prognostically insignificant arrhythmias do not require treatment. It is only required for hemodynamically and prognostically significant arrhythmias. Before the introduction of a drug therapy, its advantages and its dangers must be considered, above all as regards the arrhythmogenicity of drugs.
