Abstract     Very fast growth and development of children requires an energetically and nourishingly harmonised food intake on a regular basis, adapted to the child's age, and later also to its sex. The requirements to obtain certain nourishing substances and also energy can be in this age even greater, if compared with adults. Increased energy and essential nourishing substances requirements are especially shown in children who are very active and/or actively occupy themselves in sports activities. Social factors are the most important ones for the choice, quantity and frequency of food intake. The environment, in which the human being lives, essentially influences his food intake, especially when the child begins to consummate the food of adults. The main cause for bad nourishing habits in children can be found especially in low variability of offered healthy foods and in low level of efforts and experience of parents to form healthy nourishing habits.
