Abstract     CT of the head is the method of choice of the availabe neuroradiological imaging methods whenever there is a suspected lesion of the brain or of the other intracranial tissues in comatose patient. Cerebrovascular disorders are the most frequent reasons of a coma. Rapid growth of a brain tumor mainly due to the haemorrhage in the tumor is also a possible couse of a coma. Intracranial infections and inflammation can be the couse of a coma. The decision about thrombolysis in cases of ischaemic stroke of the brain depends greatly on the findings of the urgent CT of the head.. Described are common findings in urgent CT head examinations and further necessary urgent neuroradiologic imaging methods. Urgent neuroradiologic imaging of head trauma is a theme of another article.
