Abstrakt     Prehospital emergency doctors of the Ljubljana Medical Centre often help overdosed drug addicts. The majority of drug addicts take drugs, mostly heroin, intravenously. Heroin intake is on the rise and last year there were 14 cases of cocaine abuse. In the following case, we acted on the emergency call of a younger man. He asked us to help his friend who wasn't breathing. We first thought of drugs because also the man on the phone seemed to be drugged. On the scene we found an unconscious younger boy sitting in a car on the fellow passenger's seat. He was completely cyanotic and almost apnoic since he inhaled only three times a minute. His pulse was 150 a minute. The medical technician offered artificial respiration through bagvalve-mask device. The driver helped the doctor to place an intravenous channel and inject an ampoule of Narcanty (0.4mg). Within next minute the man started to breath normally and came to. Slightly somnolent, he was then taken over by the internist in the emergency unit.
