Abstract		Endovascualr interventional neuroradiology has become a competing medical speciality intruding on the therapeutic turf traditionally controlled by neurosurgery. Endovascular tratment can benefit many patients with central nervous system disorders by provinding less invasive alternative mode of treatment, or by making subsequent therapy safer and more effective. Therefore the selection of interventional neuroradiology techniques requires consideration of neurosurgical techniques, just as the selection of neurosurgical treatment requires analysis of endovascular alternatives. To make the proper decision for treatment, the management team (a neuroradiologist, neurosurgeon and neuroanesthesiologist) must consider the safety vs. risks of the procedure, its efficacy, discomfort to the patient, pain and length of the recovery period, and cost.
Summary		Po uvedbi endovaskularnih intervencijskih nevroradioloških posegov je nevrokirurgija dobila konkurenčen način zdravljenja na področju, ki ga je do sedaj obvladovala sama. Endovaskularni način zdravljenja lahko koristi številnim bolnikom z boleznimi orednjega živčevja, saj je manj invaziven, omogoča pa tudi varnejše in učinkovitejše nadaljnje zdravljenje. Ob odločitvi za intervencijski način zdravljenja moramo upoštevati tudi možnosti nevrokirurškega posega, enako pa morajo tudi nevrokirurgi pri načrtovanju operacije upoštevati možnost endovaskularnega zdravljenja. Za odločitev o najprimernejšem načInu zdravljenja je potrebno tesno sodelovanje nevrologa, nevrokirurga in anesteziologa, ki morajo upoštevati varnost oz. tveganost posega, njegovo učinkovitost, bolnikova nelagodja, bolečine in trajanje okrevanja, pa tudi stroške samega posega.
