Abstract		For successful isolation of causative agent of fungal infection a sample of good quallity is of great importance. The physician who orders mycological examination is responsible for proper specimen collection, container labelling and transport of sample. Essential prerequisites for successful isolation of causative agents of fungal infection are proper collection of samples, rapid transport of samples to the laboratory, immediate and correct processing of samples, inoculation onto appropriate culture media, and incubation at adequate temperatures for a suffcient period of time. If physician suspects on particular fungal infection, it would be wise to inform the laboratory about that, in order to select special culture media and methods of processing of samples, and to set up particular safety measures for prevention of laboratory infection. Communication between ordering physician and laboratory staff is of essential importance.
Summary		Za uspešno osamitev povzročitelja glivne okužbe je zelo pomembna kvalitetna kužnina. Zdravnik, ki naroča mikološko preiskavo, je odgovoren za pravilen odvzem, oznake in transport kužnine. Osnovni predpogoji za uspešno osamitev povzročiteljev mikoz so pravilen odvzem kužnin, hitra dostava kužnine v laboratorij, takojšnja in pravilna obdelava kužnine, nasaditev na primerna gojišča, ter dovolj dolga inkubacija pri primernih temperaturah. Če zdravnik sumi na okužbo z določeno glivo, je priporočljivo o tem obvestiti laboratorij, saj bodo morda potrebna posebna gojišča in metode za osamitev, pa tudi posebni varnostni ukrepi za zaščito pred laboratorijsko okužbo. Komunikacija med zdravnikom in laboratorijem je bistvenega pomena.
