Abstract     The isokinetic lift simulation is multidimensional movement, which includes all body segments and represents the functional lifting activity. It is used in assessment, therapy and ergonomic testing. Indications, contraindication and detailed testing protocol for the testing of the isokinetic lifting are presented in the article. The difference between knee and back lifting methods at testing velocities 13 cm/s and 46 cm/s was also determined. Therefore 21 subjects (10 female and 11 male), aged between 22 and 33 years were tested. The Biodex isokinetic system with Lift Simulator (Shirley (NY), USA) was used. Paired sample t-test showed no significant difference in peak force between knee and back lifting methods at both testing velocities. The work done by male subjects with the knee lifting method was signifcantly higher than with the back lifting method at both testing velocities. Although results show no difference in peak force, the knee lifting method is preferred from the biomechanical point of view.
