Abstract     Understanding the cardiorespiratory physiologic and anatomic differences and changes in fetal neonatal and adult circulation is important for choosing proper maneuvers to improve or maintain distribution of ventilation through the lungs. The decrease in venous retum and cardiac output, increased afterload, the elevation of the pulmonary arterial pressure are all potential serious complications with otherwise "correct physiotherapeutic procedures". The importance of close observation and monitoring is stressed.
