Abstract		It is important for physicians who deal with patients travelling to the tropics to be familiar with possible diseases to which such patients might be exposed. Advice on immunisations, malaria prophylaxis, prevention and self-treatment of traveller's diarrhea, as well as other preventive measures must be given before travel. In addition, on a traveller's return from the tropics, awareness and the proper recognition of potential problems resulting from travelling are important.
Summary		Zdravniki, ki svetujejo popotnikom pred odhodom v tropske kraje, morajo poznati bolezni, ki so jim osebe na potovanju lahko izpostavljene. Pred odhodom moramo popotnikom svetovati glede cepljenj, zaščite proti malariji, preprečevanja in zdravljenja potovalne driske ter glede drugih preventivnih ukrepov. Po vrnitvi iz tropskih krajev je ob morebitnih zdravstvenih težavah potrebno upoštevati možnost tropske bolezni.
