Abstract     Artificial neural networks (ANN) are relatively new mathematical tool that has not been broadly applied to pharmacy up to now. They were developed on the basis of attempts to simulate some of the neurological activity of human brain. The aim of the present paper is to give a detailed description of the ANN methodology and the scope of their application in pharmaceutical field ranging from clinical pharmacy, through biopharmacy, drug and dosage form design to interpretation of analytical data.
Summary     Umetne nevronske mreže so relativno novo matematično orodje in do nedavnega v farmaciji še niso bile široko razširjene.
