Abstract     Shock is a state in which inadequate perfusion of the body leads to cell and tissue injury. The injury is at first reversible, but later it becomes irreversible and the patient dies. The main goal of treatment of patients in shock is to reverse the worsening of shock and to prevent tissue and organ injury. For successful treatment, shock and type of shock must be diagnosed, patient's hemodynamic condition must be evaluated and optimal treatment must be started as soon as possible. The present paper is a tentative review of the most common pitfalls in approach to the patient in shock.
