Abstract     Thyroid storm is characterized by high fever, tachycardia, heart failure, gastrointestinal upset, hepatic dysfunction and central nervous system disturbances. It is a rare, but life threatening condition. Therapy comprises of support measures, suppressing the adrenergic effects, lowering of thyroid hormone levels in the serum and abolishing the precipitating cause. Effective management of thyroid storm is based on early recognition and treatment of impending storm. We present a case of twenty years old patient with a worsening of hyperthyrosis two months after delivery. A typical presentation of the disorder was followed by an unusually severe heart failure and a patient died in spite of aggressive therapy.
