Abstract     Ventilation-perfusion lung scintigraphy allows the determination of the regional distribution of lung perfusion and ventilation. In recent years, it has become the most important imaging method for the detection of acute pulmonary emboli. A special advantage of this method is that the criteria of high diagnostic reliability of the examination (high and low to very low probability emboli) or, conversely, of its low diagnostic value (intermediate or indeterminate probability of pulmonary emboli), in which case additional investigations are required, are well defined and standardised. Good knowledge of clinical and scintigraphic probability of the presence of pulmonary emboli is required for high quality clinical work and appropriate therapy of such patients.
Summary     Perfuzijska in ventilacijska scintigrafija pljuč omogočata prikaz regionalne perfuzije in ventilacije pljučnega parenhima. V zadnjih letih je ta preiskava postala najpomembnejša slikovna preiskavna metoda za dokazovanje pljučnih embolizmov. Posebna prednost te preiskavne metode je, da so natančno definirani kriteriji, v katerih primerih je diagnostična zanesljivost preiskave visoka (visoka in nizka do zelo nizka verjetnost pljučnih embolizmov), in tisti, kjer je natančnost slaba (srednje velika verjetnost pljučnih embolizmov) in so zato potrebne dodatne preiskave. Za kvalitetno klinično delo in ustrezno zdravljenje bolnikov je potrebno poznavanje tako klinične kot scintigrafske verjetnosti prisotnosti svežih pljučnih embolizmov.
