Abstract     Very good, reliable, accurate and reproducible and most of all very sensitive and specific analytical method for determination of active substance and its eventually present metabolites in human plasma is needed to prove biological equivalence of pharmaceutical formulation. In the past the most common analytical techniques were high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with UV or fluorescence detection or gas chromatography equped with various detectors. Pharmaceutical active substances are more and more potent resulting in lower doses and extremelly low sistemic concentration in blood. These traces of active substances in very complex biological matrix as human plasma is very difficult to determine with classical separation methods like HPLC and GC and mass spectrometers are more and more in use as detectors coupled with LC or GC for these purposes. LC/MS(/MS) and GC/MS(/MS) are becoming standard quantitative techniques for bioanalytical needs.
