Abstract     It has been established by the authors that due to extensive material and overlapping statistical sources high-quality monitoring of the issue regarding invalidity assessment of neurological patients is a difficult task from medical as well as economic point of view. In the period 1992-1999 the authors primarily analysed new cases with the primary diagnosis from the neurological disease group, including cerebrovascular diseases. The increasing trend of invalidity in the first years of the period studied has slowed down. It has been established that the occurrence of invalidity of category III is on the increase while on the other hand the incidence of invalidity of category I is on the decrease. Among the reasons for recognising a person as disabled neurological diseases take up the sixth place. The same number of men and women are established as disabled but for the age group between 51 and 60 years when men prevail. The ratio between invalidity categories is similar to that relating to all disabled persons, in women, however, category II is by far more frequent while the occurrence of category III is less frequent. The patients suffering from cerebrovascular diseases are more frequently assessed as category I disabled persons.
