Abstract		Haemovigilance is a national system of surveillance and alarm in transfusion activities from blood donor selection to the follow-up of the blood component recipients, gathering and analysing all untoward effects of blood transfusion in order to correct their cause and prevent recurrence. In countries where haemovigilance has been established, it became the ultimate quality indicator of a transfusion service. In Slovenia haemovigilance was created by law and notification of transfusion incidents is a legal obligation. But the whole system of haemovigilance will be established in the near future.
