Abstrakt		Liver transplantation is the only successful method of treating end-stage hepatic failure due to acute or chronic disease in a child. The urgency of the need for a liver tansplant in a child awaiting the procedure can be determined with the use of Malatack's scoring system or by risk assessment on the basis of the monoethylglycinexylidide (MEGX) test. We present the results of a study comparing the MEGX test and standard liver function tests for the assessment of the hepatic functional reserve in children with chronic liver disease.
Izvleček		Transplantacija jeter je edina uspešna metoda zdravljenja pri otroku z akutno ali kronično jetrno boleznijo, ki je že v končnem stanju odpovedi jeter. Prognostične kazalce in s tem oceno nujnosti za presaditev jeter pri otroku, ki čaka na presaditev jeter; lahko določimo s točkovanjem po Malatacku ali z oceno rizičnosti na osnovi monoetilglicinksilididnega (MEGX) testa. V prispevku opisujemo rezultate primerjalne raziskave za uporabnost MEGX testa v primerjavi s standardnimi jetmimi testi ( SJT ) pri oceni jetrne funkcionalne rezerve pri otrocih s kronično jetrno bolezniio.
