Abstract | Temporary free gingival tissue displacement is an important clinical procedure, used in fixed prosthodontics to ensure that accurate impressions are obtained. In the study, four different chemical retraction agents and two cotton cord diameters were evaluated on beagle dogs. The dilatation of buccal sulci was measured after they had been in contact with the retraction agents for 10 minutes. Statistical evaluation of the results showed that tetrahydrozoline, a newly introduced agent, was less effective than the other agents tested, but it fulfilled the requirements of the procedure. | |
