Abstrakt		Half a century ago the provence writer Jean Giono wrote a tale of a hermit who spent most of his life planting trees. The Slovenian-born but naturalized Dutch professor J. Rupreht gave the impetus for the renovation of an alley of pear trees besides a road. This was favorably greeted and is now taking place. In Slovenia we also have a similarly renovated linden tree alley at Logatec. Now there is a movement to restore the oak alley by the canal Raka in Idrija. What about other forgetten alleys? Are we prepared to preserve them as part of our natural heritage?
