Abstrakt		The discovery of America at the end of the fifteenth century also meant the discovery of new plants which were to change many European menus. But people unwittingly at first, later even by design, brought "useless" plants. Under new conditions some began to expalnd rapidly and these were later called neophytes: foreign plants which appeared in a region during the past five hundred years. While we might be able to name but a few, they represent about a twentieth of our flora.
