Abstrakt		A great even that resounded in the media happened in Washington: the president of the USA, Bill Clinton, was the host of two longtime rivals, Craig Venter, the president of the privately owned Celera Genomics and Francis Collins, the director of the international consortium The Human Genome Project. The fourth guest was the British prime minister Tony Blair who joined the group by video from London. Simultaneously there were also conferences in Paris, Tokyo, and Bonn. The event consisted of the plan of two separate proposals prepared by two until then rival companies of scientists and capital to solve the problem of the human genome. There was no lack of enthusiastic words but we are all aware that something truly great happened which will not only change science but our whole society.
