Abstrakt		The article presents hospitalisations in Maribor General hospital due to atherosclerosis-and its clinical manifestations and due to alcoholic liver disease in the year 2000. Data concerning the diagnoses of illnesses which caused hospitalisation, coded according to ICD-10 were used. The have of patients with atherosclerosis amounts to 6,5% of all patients, white the share of those with diagnosed-alcoholic liver disease is significantly lower at 0,3%. Apparently, atherosclerosis with its. clinical manifestations is a recognisable cause of sickness, while alcoholic liver disease is most probably hidden among etiologically undefined liver diseases.
