Abstract | The forces acting in the process of help are extremely strong. The challenge to be met is to manipulate them into influencing the process in a positive way - therapeutically, and to make their help real, practical, and not imaginary or even useless. The question is of a "user empowering process". This involves support and actual help to people excluded from the social mainstream, namely, people with disabilities, sick or handicapped old people, and all those who are marked - stigmatised and helpless because of their being different. What matters here is a proper approach. Approach is more important than action - intervention. The idea that the user him/herself should decide on his/her needs and choose from a diverse selection of working therapies is another challenge to the traditional role of working therapy in our country. | |
