Abstract		Activity is the most important medium in occupational therapy. It is used to achieve therapeutic goals and also to identify difficulties in man's daily life. Direct observation of actual performance is one of the most reliable ways of identifying any problems there may be. Described in relation to the process of analysis is why, what and how to analyse in occupational therapy. The rationale, origins and process of dynamic performance analysis are discussed.
