Abstract		The purpose of the article was to find out how people with paraplegia and quadriplegia are accepted in their environment and why this environment stigmatises them, why the stigmatisation continues to be present and what possibilities there are for it to be eliminated. Presented in the article are also the results obtained by means of a questionnaire among people with para- and quadriplegia and by the same qustionnaire among physically unaffected people. The purpose of the questionnaire was to explore the situation and identify positions and opinions of both the affected and the healthy participants.
